Setting Up

There are many processes that you will have to go through before setting up online so that you can make sure that you are going in the right direction. Many people just jump right in put together a cheap website and then wonder why no one is looking at it and why it is not generating any income.

One of the first things you will need to do is sit down and work out

  • WHAT you plan to do with your website once it is up and running. Is the website going to be information for others just to read. Are you going to sell items in a shop. Work out the structure first before anything else
  • Now you know where you are going you need to find a HOST for your website. A HOST is a company that will provide you with web space. They will allow you, depending on what package you buy, a certain amount of space on their server to put all your web pages on for people then to see. Packages vary so much and this is why you need to know what you want your website to do. My recommendation is a company called 1and1. I use them and they provide me with alot of what i need and more. They offer a wide range of packages suiting all needs, but there are many out there, just do your research first and find what suits you

  • Get a domain name - A domain name is the address that people will enter to find your website and will also appear in the search engines. You can check what domain names are available here.
Trust 1&1 Internet for your domain name registration, from only £1.99/year!. Check now!

  • Website building software - Now although you will need some kind of program to build your website you do not necessarily have to go out and buy one. Some programs can be a bit daunting, but in some HOST packages you get them included and they are a set by set setup.

Once you have worked your way through that lot you are pretty much ready to go.
